My husband and I are considering a big purchase... the Panther Pavilion "Imperial" model pavilion. Unfortunately, there is only one photo of the Imperial available from Panther and we just can't get a good enough feel for the pavilion by that pic. We live down in New Zealand and there are few pavilions here - certainly no other Imperial models.

So, short story long... does anyone here have a Panther "Imperial"? Can you share your thoughts if you do and preferably pictures as well? I can send an email addy for pics if anyone has some, just drop me a message off-list.

Thanks in advance.

    Heyyyyy New Zealand!
Which area are you in? I was "down" your way back in 2000 and the locals treated me like a long-lost cousin form America. (well, maybe not quite THAT badly...) LOL!

Anyhow, - I might be able to help you out here... Besides being a 15-year veteran of canvas living, I also happen to have a discount down in West By-Gawd (West Va. - locally) with the Panther Peeps. I've spent several nights in an Imperial that was set up at an event down in Kentucky and it was a downright nice setup! No perimeter poles to deal with, so the floor space really is usable floor space.
The Imperial is basically a Carousel that grew a bit. Same design, just has two longish sides with the rounded ends rather than a simple round. Very stable in the wind (with the wind ropes) as it sort of breaks against the sloped sides and around, rather than buffeting against straight flat sides as in a marquee. It's made with two center poles connected by a ridge across the top, and then the two round ends are held out at the eaves by a pair of half-wheels made from a center hub with radiating spokes.
Make certain to order it with the sod cloth tho, all pavilions tend to have places where the sides don't meet the ground around the edges, and that can leave gaps for wind/rain/critters to get in. The sod cloth will fill in any low spots and allow you to put a drop cloth or tarp down over it and somewhat "seal out" such nasties.

If you decide to order one, feel free to ask Linda down at PantherPrimitives about me, she/they know me well and should give a good (well.. - considering) report should you decide to order through m'self.
I can guarantee at least a 10% savings off their retail prices for the tent. other accoutrements probably not so, unless you were to order a number of items (of the same items, I mean - say 4 mugs or 3 lanterns and so forth..)

Please check out my listing on the Tribe site for more details and my contact info if you'd wish.

Cheers and hope you make Pennsic some day! The Mecca of SCAdians everywhere! :-D
John / Viktor / "Cowboy" to most...
