Good Morning everybody,
I was curious if anybody knew of any Pennsic like events in New Zealand. I have read about the different events, but the information is scattered and relegated to different groups. My wife and I are considering making the move and if there are any events that anybody knows about that would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Dan

Re: SCA in New Zealand
Mon, April 13, 2009 - 2:23 PMCanterbury Faire (early Feb. usually) is a very nice camping event in NZ in, well, Canterbury (just north of Christchurch). It isn't anywhere as large as Pennsic, but it is extremely well organized with a full and amazing meal-plan with many activities. It lasts 5 days. Also, the people rock and have quick off-site trips for a farmer's market and wine-tastings. I'm quite tempted to go back to attend again. sg.sca.org.nz/cf.htm
Another of the larger events in Lochac to take a look at is in Australia, Rowany Festival (just happened these past few days). Again, not nearly as large as Pennsic, but many folks from NZ hop over to attend the event. I haven't attended that one, but have only heard good things about it (well, outside of the stingy bugs) sg.sca.org.nz/festival.htm

Have a look at this site and forum www.gatheringdarkness.co.nz/foru...x.php for reenactment events in NZ.

Thu, April 16, 2009 - 10:24 AMExcellent.
So how do you like Whangarei? I'm leaning more towards BoP or ChCh, but honestly I'll go where the work is. The only areas I don't really think I would like is Welly or Dunedin; the former because of the hills & the latter because of the isolation. If it isn't ChCh, I'd really rather be on the NI. -

Re: SCA in New Zealand
Thu, April 16, 2009 - 11:14 AMNelson is on my list, but with my work experience, I may have a tough time finding work. I work in IT but I specialise in working with very large corporations (well here in US I do) and I've been told by two Kiwi recruiters so far that my CV has actually put some hiring managers off because they feel that I am very over-qualified.
